General Guidelines
Use this page for recurring social media procedures. Shared event deadlines should stay in the Operations Calendar, while this page should explain how the Social Media Manager actually prepares and posts reminders.
Weekly Events
- Monday
- In the morning or at noon, post a unique flyer on:
- Instagram posts and stories, with mentions to other UAB entities when relevant.
- Twitter/X, with tags to other UAB entities when relevant.
- Discord, using
@everyoneonly when appropriate. - Slack to the informatics channel.
- Graduate Student GroupMe occasionally.
- In the morning or at noon, post a unique flyer on:
- Thursday
- Remind members about the next day’s event.
- Use Instagram stories and Slack when appropriate.
- Friday
- Remind members about the next day’s event if the event is on Saturday.
- Use Instagram stories and Slack when appropriate.
- Before posting
- Ask for event details by Monday.
- Confirm location, time, food, teaching topic, speaker or facilitator, and Zoom link if applicable.
- Make sure text and images fit each platform without being cut off.
- Weekend work
- Avoid weekend posting unless it is needed for a specific event.
Monthly Events
- One month before the event
- Ask the Event Manager for the event details needed for promotion.
- Confirm location, time, food, teaching topic, speaker or facilitator, and Zoom link if applicable.
- Make sure the flyer content fits the platform formats before posting.
- Promotion schedule
- Post flyers on Mondays using the same platforms and timing as weekly events.
- Post 3 weeks, 2 weeks, and 1 week before the event.
- Follow the weekly reminder cadence during the week of the event.
